Just When You Thought Things Couldn't Get Any Crazier...

According to this article on CNN, "reality star" (aka, talentless, but beautiful and well-marketed bimbo) Kim Kardashian has had her fanny x-rayed to prove it's all-natural, unenhanced by implants.

Oy!

Let's see, now ... unemployment is high, the economy is in the toilet, Republicans are more concerned with sticking it to the Democrats, foiling the President, and remaining true to philosophical purity than with working collegially to fix the nation's problems, Democrats are well-meaning, but clueless and unable to come up with a coherent program, wildfires are scorching much of the country, the nuclear reactor crisis continues to fester in Japan, hyper-violent drug wars continue to ravage Mexico and threaten the American southwest, Islamic extremists continue to believe the path to an imagined paradise is paved with the bodies of Christians and Jews ...

... and CNN is reporting about Kim Kardashian's ass?

Granted, it's a very nice posterior of truly epic proportions, but don't we have better things to worry about?

And that's all I'm going to say on the subject. I only brought it up because I'm afraid of getting a little behind in my blogging.

So to speak.

Have a good day. More thoughts, unrelated to the gluteus maximus, tomorrow.

I appear to have inadvertently shocked Faithful Reader Craziequeen, who tells me that the word fanny in British English has a considerably more ... um ... intimate meaning than it does on this side of The Pond. Oddly enough, fanny in American English is considered a much more polite way to refer to one's backside than, say, ass, which also has many other, often disparaging, meanings. My apologies to any of my UK readers who may have been offended. Even us card-carrying linguists can make an ... uh ... ass of ourselves once in a while!

Oh, I am - terribly shocked :-O

Seriously, we do get a laugh out of the American use of the word 'fanny' and the phrase 'fanny-pack' usually has us paralytic! :-D

We use; bottom, butt, derriere, arse, bum...

I did do a doubletake as an English person at the concept of Kim watserface x-raying her 'fanny'...

And your typical groan-inducing pun near the end of the post horribly offended me! (just kidding)

It was a tough job, but someone had to do it.

Getting some behind in your blogging is a good thing.

And the British? Well let them tell us how they 'suck on a fag' with a straight face.

And I had to look this up to see what the big deal was.

1. taboo ( Brit ) the female genitals
2. chiefly ( US ), ( Canadian ) the buttocks

usage Despite the theory that this word derives from the name `Fanny', its use in British English is still considered taboo by many people, and is likely to cause offence. In the US the word refers to the buttocks. Serious misunderstanding may therefore arise when what people in Britain know as a `bumbag' is referred to in the US as a `fanny pack'

So how to modern Brits deal with reading the name "Fanny" in many 19th century classics? I believe it was a fairly common first name.

That's not a fanny, that's real estate.
