Cartoon Saturday

The Justice Department has indicted six job recruiters in what the FBI has called the largest human-trafficking operation ever to result in charges in the United States, involving workers on Hawaiian pineapple fields; a woman in Vancouver was seriously injured when another woman, apparently at random, threw a cup of acid into her face; a fire which destroyed a mosque under construction in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, has been determined to have resulted from arson; and Mexicans are strongly objecting to an American's cartoon showing the eagle in the Mexican flag dead in a pool of blood.

Cartoon Saturday is back to help you over the rough spots of the past week, and get you ready for the week to come.

Considering our discussion over the past two posts of fixing Congress, this cartoon is very timely. And, sadly, very accurate...

We've also talked about real books versus e-books, and our preferences for one or the other. Here are two cartoons that tell the story well...

And...

We faced a terrible crisis at work the other day when we ran out of paper for the printer, and one of our staff wags commented how lucky we were to have gone to the "paperless office" concept. It's a good idea in theory but, like all such theories, it doesn't work for everybody...

Many well-meaning but clueless individuals seem to have a problem with asking potential lawbreakers for identification. I read a story one time about how a model for Playboy Magazine (no link, since this is a G-rated blog) got a check cashed by using her centerfold photo as ID. There are other ID options, too...

And this one's for those of you who remember Jimmy Buffett's classic song "Permanent Reminder of a Temporary Feeling"...

Cartoon Saturday is coming to you this weekend from Pittsburgh, PA, where we're spending the weekend visiting my Dad and the rest of the family. The drive up yesterday, which normally takes us about four hours, took almost five-and-a-half because of insane traffic. You'd have thought there was a hurricane coming or something.

Enjoy the traditional last weekend of summer, and do it safely. I can't afford to lose any readers.

Have a great weekend. More thoughts tomorrow.

  1. I think my favorite is the origami one! We were just talking about Pittsburgh traffic last night and GPSs. Seems the GPSs don't do well with the tiered roads?
Enjoy your family and a safe return.
