Cartoon Saturday

Once more into the breach, dear friends ...

In Virginia Beach, three persons are unaccounted for after a Navy jet fighter suffered a catastrophic system failure and crashed into a row of apartment buildings; three people are dead and two injured in a series of shootings in Oklahoma City; five people in China have been charged with intentional injury after illegally buying one of the kidneys of a teenage boy, who used the money to buy an iPhone and an iPad; about 100 Pakistani soldiers manning an outpost on a glacier in the Himalayas have been buried by an avalanche; and artist Thomas Kinkaid, the self-described "Painter of Light" famous for his idyllic (or kitschy) paintings, has died at 54.

Time to hook up the old Cartoon Saturday IV ... and the topic for this week is health care, or something like it ...

If Humpty Dumpty had lived in 2012 ...

or ...

Of course, not everyone has insurance ...

and ...

But those that do have their own problems ...

and ...

It even complicates the search for just the right get-well card ...

There are, of course, some ways you can help to keep your health care costs in check ...

And employers are looking for ways to minimize those costs, too ...

And finally for this week, a 50's twist on a common procedure ...

It's been a pretty rough week, with lots of reorganizational paranoia at work and Nessa's departure across the Rainbow Bridge. On the other hand, Agnes and I just found out yesterday evening that we are going to be grandparents again, just in time for Christmas. I guess it all evens out, doesn't it?

Have a happy Easter ... unless you do not observe some variant of Christianity, in which case just have a good weekend. Well, have the good weekend in any case.

More thoughts coming.

  1. How nice! Hearing about another grandchild is cause for happiness!

I think I'll be cautious about my hip, read my policy, and not pill shop out of country.

  4. Humpty Dumpty's HMO leave something to be desired. Or maybe it's their approach to weeding out poor insurance risks.

  5. I never worried use about the cost of health care but Aaron's numerous trips to the doctors last year started to give me reason to think about it all the time....

IT must be exciting for youboth to find that you will be grandparents again. Good to hear that.
