Cartoon Saturday

Home again, home again, jiggety-jig ...

Pope Francis has angered conservative Catholics with his comments which - oddly enough - are similar to ones Jesus might have made; ultra-conservative wingnut senator Ted Cruz has angered ultra-ultra-conservative Republicans for not being ultra-ultra-ultra conservative enough; in Chicago, a three-year-old boy is in the hospital after being shot in the head in a flurry of gunfire that injured 13 people; twelve people were murdered at the Washington Navy Yard by a gunman who had been granted a secret clearance after passing a background check; and also in Washington, House Republicans continued their political buffoonery by passing a short-term government funding bill that, by including language to defund the Affordable Care Act (aka "Obamacare") was guaranteed to fail in the Senate and drive the country into another political and fiscal crisis.

I'm looking for a nice retirement home. On Mars. But until I can get it, let's just settle for some cartoons.

For this week's theme cartoons, let's revisit a popular topic - crash test dummies. They tend to have a lot of accidents ... of all kinds ...

They can be a boon to lawyers ...

In today's America, you can be accused of bigotry for just about anything ...

Crooks need to be careful about the getaway drivers they choose ...

Even a crash test dummy has to face the dreaded performance evaluation ...

This one is my favorite ...

And finally for this series, you didn't know that Humpty Dumpty was moonlighting, did you? ...

The awful pun cartoon of the week award goes to ...

An interesting take on religion ...

Our final cartoon for this week, which pretty much sums up how Congress works ...

And that's Cartoon Saturday for this week. I think you probably needed it as much as I did.

It looks like this weekend may be a bit rainy and cooler here in NoVa, which may make it a good weekend to get some things done in the house. Be sure to come back tomorrow, when we'll continue the saga of Bilbo and Agnes's European Vacation with the story of the Big Wedding ... with pictures. You won't want to miss it.

Have a good day. More thoughts tomorrow.

  1. So nice to have Cartoon Sarurday! I didn't know there was a crash test dummy genre of cartoons, but those were great! Happy Saturday, Bilbo!

  2. I would get a different wheelman, also. Do bank robbers take into account the safety records of their drivers?

  5. It's not the magic person in the sky or the volcano that's the problem, it's all the minions.
