The Point of No Return

Should you happen to be ... or to know ... one of those who think climate change is not real and nothing more than a part of the despicable liberal plot to force health care on you, take your guns, convert you to Islam, and make you live in a 21st century version of Hitler's Germany, you may want to read this article: When Will Climate Change Strike You? In case you're too busy posting stupid things on Facebook to read the entire article, here's the accompanying map that summarizes the dates by which major cities around the world will pass "climate departure" - the year when the average coolest temperature year is projected to be warmer than the average temperature of the hottest year between 1960 and 2005 ... click it to enlarge ...

I'm not sure about you, but I doubt the accuracy of some of the dates, particularly 2047 as the date projected for Washington, DC. After all, we have a vast and ever-renewing surplus of hot air provided by Congress that tends to skew our average temperatures toward the high end of the scale. My personal prediction is that Disneyland-on-the-Potomac will hit its climate departure point by the middle of next week at the latest.

All kidding aside, though, climate change exacerbated by human activity is a serious problem that is not taken seriously enough by those in a position to help ameliorate it. It won't be all that long before the old song "There'll Be a Hot Time in the Old Town Tonight" isn't toe-tappin' fun any more ...

Have a good day. Stay cool. More thoughts tomorrow.

  1. To be oblivious of climate change is to choose to be an ostritch.

  2. What we need is a good ol' meteor strike to blot the sun out for a couple of years. That'll fix everything.
