Cartoon Saturday

Welcome to November. October, hope the door didn't hit you in the butt on your way out ...

A 23 year-old man with an apparent grudge against the government and wielding an assault rifle shot his way through Los Angeles International Airport yesterday, murdering a TSA officer and wounding many other people before being killed by police; a team driving a souped-up Mercedes CL55 AMG broke the record for driving across the United States, going from New York to Redondo Beach, California, in just under 29 hours at an average speed of 98 mph; a "mystery barge" anchored in San Francisco Bay is apparently not right-wing blowhard Rush Limbaugh in his Halloween costume, but a floating showroom for Google Glass and other products; Pakistani Taliban leader Hakimullah Mehsud was reported to have been killed in a drone strike in northwestern Pakistan; and a new book alleges that President Obama considered replacing Joe Biden with Hillary Clinton as his vice presidential candidate in 2012.

As we limp boldly into a new month and the beginning of the holiday season, let's bring on the cartoons to help us get by, shall we?

Our selection of theme cartoons for this week focuses on the brave souls who help out the crazy folks among us - our psychiatrists - and their befuddled patients ...

Sometimes, the diagnosis is obvious ...

'Ya think? ...

Sometimes, there's more than one problem to be resolved ...

This is the guy I think I need to see, unless I can find someone who offers a bulk rate ...

Diagnosis by the numbers ...

Moving on to other random cartoons, I found this one on Facebook, and thought it was wonderful on several levels ...

I know what will stimulate the economy ... jobs! And I also know that until Congress gives the business community something like certainty about policies, the job market will continue to be yucky and we'll have to resort to things like ...

I think this one's a classic ...

Alternative fuels may be good for the environment, but they often come with their own sets of problems ...

And finally, sometimes you just don't need the test ...

And there you have it ... your first of five Cartoon Saturdays for November*. We're looking forward to a beautiful day here in NoVa before the weather turns cold again in the coming week ... bright sunshine and a high in the mid-60's. I could get used to this.

Don't forget to turn your clocks back an hour before you go to bed tonight, as Daylight Savings Time comes to an end at 2AM tomorrow morning. Who couldn't use another hour of sleep, eh?

Have a good day and a great weekend. More thoughts tomorrow.

* Long month, eh?
