Cartoon Saturday

I don't know about you, but I'm really sick of winter, and need a laugh. Especially after this week's news headlines ...

Members of the so-called "Islamic State" have once again destroyed priceless cultural treasures, this time bulldozing the site of the ancient Assyrian city of Nimrud in northern Iraq; the Justice Department is preparing to bring criminal corruption charges against Sen. Robert Menendez, a New Jersey Democrat, alleging he used his Senate office to push the business interests of a Democratic donor and friend in exchange for gifts; knife-wielding attackers wounded ten people at a railway station in the southern Chinese city of Guangzhou before local police shot one suspect and arrested another; the US Ambassador to South Korea, Mark Lippert, was attacked and seriously injured in Seoul by a man wielding a ten-inch knife; and one of the men convicted in the horrifying gang rape and murder of a young woman in India in 2012 claims she was responsible because "she should (have) just be(en) silent and allow(ed) the rape."

It's a wonderful world, isn't it?

This week, in honor of the tremendous work being done** by our elected reprehensives in Congress, our collection of theme cartoons features ... zombies.

It's a common mistake ...

It isn't just the ladies who are golddiggers ...

You had to see this one coming ...

Even zombies need an occasional checkup ...

Making offers you can't refuse ...

When zombies network ...

Moving on to other topics, it can be disheartening to be the #2 goose ...

Congressional response ...

I think I need something like this as I rush toward retirement ...

Finally, I wonder if this is how I'll be remembered ...

Well, it looks like it will be a nice weekend. There's no snow in the forecast, it's going to be warming up a bit, and tonight we're going to the George Mason Center for the Arts with our friends Ken and Nadja to see Tango Buenos Aires. We'll lose an hour of sleep tonight as Daylight Savings Time kicks in, but I guess we'll get over it.

Have a good day and a great weekend. Come back tomorow for Poetry Sunday.
