Well, the good news is that we finally made it out of March. The bad news is that April looks like it's going to suck, too.
Vicious thugs belonging to the al-Shabaab group murdered nearly 150 people in cold blood in an attack on Christian students attending Garissa University in Kenya; after years of arguing that the education of athletes is paramount, the NCAA now says it has no legal responsibility to make sure education is actually delivered*; more than 50 people are known dead and another 15 are missing after a Russian fishing trawler sank near the Kamchatka peninsula; at least 270 prisoners - many of them with links to al-Qaeda - escaped when Al Qaeda fighters attacked a prison in Yemen on Thursday; in California, Governor Jerry Brown implemented mandatory water restrictions in the face of the worst drought in the state's history.
We haven't looked at crash test dummies for a while, so let's start off with a collection of theme cartoons in honor of these most unfortunate of professionals ...
I'd probably have gone for something else in my benefits package ...
Gotta go now ...
Well, they need to learn their trade somehow ...
And they need to earn their licenses just like everyone else ...
The fortuneteller calls it ...
GPS is very accurate ...
Turning to other subjects, Agnes is the Queen of Photoshop, and does amazing things with the digital photos we shoot. But there is the occasional mishap, even for experts ...
As I suspected ...
Look closely ...
We've been dog-sitting Clara, our daughter's dog. She figured this one out right away ...
Clara has been driving poor Agnes bonkers all week, wanting to constantly sit in her lap** to the point where she (Agnes, not Clara) can't get anything done. When I'm done here, I'm going to take her (Clara, not Agnes) for a marathon walk so that Agnes can have some peace and quiet to work on her projects. I, of course, will come back with one arm significantly longer than the other and a fistful of plastic bags***.
Ah, weekends!
Have a good day. More thoughts tomorrow, when Poetry Sunday returns.

* I'm sure you're absolutely shocked at this.
** A solid, stocky, energetic pit bull is not the poster child for lap dogs.
*** The same stuff we get from Congress, except that I have to do my own packaging.
Working as a crash test dummy must suck. At least you get the company car for short trips.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with walking Clara.
Our Bubba doesn't require walking; he's a cat!
NCAA just made itself superfluous! They were a pain in the ass to deal with when Melissa started college.
ReplyDeleteI think she (Agnes; not Clara) deserves a stroll as well.
A good start for April's Saturdays
ReplyDeleteMaybe the girl could take the photoshop accident guy for show and tell.
ReplyDeleteThat would be the show-and-tell to end all show and tells.
ReplyDeleteThe NCAA's leadership should serve as crash test dummies.
ReplyDeleteThose were great cartoons!
