Today, we continue with my on-again/off-again flirtation with the 30-Day Writing Challenge as I take on topic #10 ... sort of.
Topic #10 is "A fruit you dislike, and why," but I'd rather tell you about a vegetable I dislike, because I don't think there are any fruits I dislike.
Actually, I love vegetables from A to Z ... asparagus to zucchini. I love broccoli, cauliflower, Brussels sprouts, turnips, kohlrabi, green beans*, spinach, onions, eggplant, leeks, carrots, celery**, peas, lima beans ... you get the idea.
There is, however, one vegetable that I have never liked, no matter how hard Agnes tries to convince me otherwise: beets.
Good thing so many people don't like Brussels sprouts ... I can use them to fill the spot on my plate that might otherwise be filled with yucky beets.
Have a good day. Eat your vegetables.
More thoughts tomorrow.
Bilbo
* Restaurants call them "haricots verts" in order to charge you double.
** Celery is actually a second-tier veggie ... I can take it or leave it.
I'm not into beers either. They taste bland and make me pee pink.
ReplyDeleteI don't like Brussels sprouts.
ReplyDeleteKing - TMI!
ReplyDeleteAngel - more for me!!
I don't like spinach or turnip greens.
ReplyDeleteI like beets but they only belong with a good vinegar/sugar mixture on salads or with hard boiled eggs.
ReplyDeleteI probably should do this challenge to get my blog back up to speed.
I never ate kohlrabi. Do you buy it at Kohl's?
ReplyDeleteYou can have my Brussels sprouts too. People keep telling me that they can be good, but I've yet to be convinced.
ReplyDeleteWhen teenagers, my three siblings and I tried to come up with a list of Seven Deadly Vegetables, but could never agree
on all seven. Those dreaded Brussels sprouts top the list.
I like beets but don't have them often. It's a unique taste. To each their own...
You're going to wind up with more brussels sprouts than you can handle. And lima beans are heading your way too.
ReplyDeleteDo you like okra?
ReplyDeleteBring on those Brussels Sprouts!
ReplyDeleteYes, Bakku-Shan, I like okra, but only when it's fried.
Allen, "the seven deadly vegetables" sounds like it could be a great idea for a story ...
