Cartoon Saturday

If you though May was bad, wait 'til you see June ...

Ignoring the advice of scientists, business leaders, and the Secretaries of State and Defense, Donald Trump announced this week that he will pull the United States out of the Paris Accords on climate change; in an unusual comment, Russian president Vladimir Putin suggested that "patriotic" Russian hackers, not connected with his government, might have tried to interfere with the US presidential election; 38-year-old Leo Varadkar, the first gay man and youngest person ever to hold the position, is set to become the Republic of Ireland's next prime minister; a man who wanted to “bring down big medicine business and big pharmacy” and didn’t plan to leave until he’d met with Donald Trump was arrested at the Trump International Hotel in Washington with an AR-15 rifle, a handgun and more than 90 rounds of ammunition; and fired FBI director James Comey is scheduled to testify before Congress in the coming week, although the White House is said to be considering invoking "executive privilege" to prevent him from testifying.

This week, in honor of all the hysteria about investigations, inquiries, special counsels, open and closed testimony, and the like, our cartoons deal with law, lawyers, and courtrooms ...

Putting quotation marks - air or print - around your words isn't always the best course of action ...

It's important to define your terms, especially in Washington ...

If you watch the shouting heads on TV, you get the same thing ...

Kellyanne Conway for the defense ...

It does make finding an impartial jury a bit more difficult ...

It's a beautiful dream ...

The high cost of good legal representation can lead to alternative defense strategies ...

For high-profile cases, you want a law firm of long standing and experience ...

This one sums up how I feel about the whole cesspool of Russian meddling, e-mails, private servers, collusion, etc ...

This really ought to be an option ...

I hope you enjoyed this timely collection of cartoons, because gawd knows we have little enough to laugh about lately.

It looks as if it will be a beautiful weekend here in NoVa, good for long walks, yard work, and generally enjoying the great outdoors. After all the rain we've had lately (which, of course, we really needed), it will be nice to go out without an umbrella for a change.

Have a good day and a great weekend. More thoughts tomorrow, when Poetry Sunday returns.

  1. Lawyers having to do the same time as their guilty client. Wouldn't that change things a bit.

Bravo! You've done it again, Bilbo. Especially loved the very old law firm.
