The Right-Cheek Ass Clown for February, 2018

It's had to believe that it's been almost a month since we last presented an Ass Clown award ... you will recall that in January we had only a Right-Cheek recipient (Richard Wolff) because I was off on vacation during the second half of the month, and so was unable to keep up with the news well enough to make an informed selection.

But that was then, and this is now. I'm back, refreshed and recharged, and there's a vast throng of individuals and groups out there clamoring for recognition of their ass clownery. With that in mind, I've spent the last few days since our return reading and watching the news, holding my nose, and making copious notes, from which I have selected our awardee for designation as

The Right-Cheek Ass Clown for February, 2018

and the award goes to

Congressman Nunes, Chair of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, has long been a slavishly devoted follower of Donald Trump, and has gone to great lengths to obfuscate the ongoing investigations into Russian interference in the 2017 presidential election. His latest move is to threaten the release of a four-page memo prepared by his staff which attempts to cast doubt on the FBI's conduct of its investigation of the Trump campaign and its potential ties to Russia, rather than focusing on the abundant evidence that Russian meddling, possibly aimed at assisting the Trump campaign, actually took place.

For his laser-like focus on protecting Donald Trump rather than upholding the law and finding the truth, and his role in undermining public confidence in the justice and law enforcement, Representative Devin Nunes is named as our Right-Cheek Ass Clown for February, 2018.

Have a good day. Come back tomorrow, when Cartoon Saturday will return. More thoughts then.

All too worthy. I thought you would probably pick him. He certainly was my choice.
