Cartoon Saturday

I know it's Halloween season and all, but does even the news have to be so frightening?

The FBI arrested at least eight people as it broke up a plan by a radical militia group to kidnap the governor of Michigan, attack police, and storm the Michigan state capitol; the Nobel Peace Prize for 2020 was awarded to the World Food Program, the U.N. body which is dealing with the pandemic's economic fallout, especially shortages of food in much of the world; Vice President Mike Pence and Democratic challenger Kamala Harris squared off in a vice-presidential debate marked by relative civility and near-total avoidance of the questions posed by the moderator; Der Furor, still recovering from his bout with Covid-19, refused to participate in next week's presidential debate after it was changed to a virtual format in the interest of safety; and in (where else?) Florida, animal control officers managed to corral an aggressive, rampaging emu that had been chasing people around the city and trying to sell them insurance.

It's week two of our annual Halloween cartoon extravaganza, and this week we're featuring jokes about mummies ...

Who would be a better waiter to serve these? ...

Don't you hate it when that happens? ...

Even mummies can be castigated for inappropriate PDA ...

Wrapping in the proper direction helps ...

Mummies of teenage daughters can be a handful ...

I think we've all been there ...

A mummy needs to use a very, very dry cleaner ...

I say under ...

All you guy mummies understand this one ...

And the prize for the worst pun of the week goes to ...

And there you have it - something to help take your mind off the real-world horrors of what America has become. You have to laugh because you can't cry ... but you can vote. Be sure to do it.

Have a good day and a great weekend. More thoughts tomorrow, when we offer up a scary poem for the season on Poetry Sunday.

  1. The new blogger, at it again. Yesterday the Pence picture had a normal URL, https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Gj9MuZ-fM1g/X3-yFx8xo8I/AAAAAAAAqbk/Ub50LG0kiBEMEtjaxVu5S70icdWtuBIEQCLcBGAsYHQ/s1200/Mike%2BPence.jpg like a normal picture.

Today, if I mouse over any picture I get https://www.blogger.com/# . When I click on any of them it takes me back to my design page on my blog.

I guess this a just another new feature.
