Cartoon Saturday

New month, new horizons of ass-clownery ...

A spy balloon the size of three buses, apparently launched by China, was being tracked over Montana by US military assets; on a party-line vote in a fit of political pique, House Republicans have ejected Democratic Representative Ilhan Omar from her seat on the House Foreign Affairs Committee; President Biden met with House Speaker (for the moment) Kevin McCarthy to discuss raising the debt ceiling to prevent a national fiscal default; lawyers representing Hunter Biden, the GOP's political piƱata of choice, went on the offensive this week, urging state and federal authorities to investigate actions by Der Furor, Rudi Giuliani, Tucker Carlson, and others for unlawfully disseminating Biden's personal data; and in Michigan, a bored six-year-old is no longer hungry after using his father's cell phone to order nearly $1000 worth of food from delivery services.

This week, as we try to find meaning in a bizarre world, let's try a collection of cartoons dedicated to philosophy ...

Even when thinking of nothing, one has to be specific ...

That post-truth guy is right at home in today's conservative movement ...

You've got to keep it relevant to the potential users ...

Rumor has it that Diogenes killed himself after stumbling across a collection of Republican talking points ...

I don't think it will generate any answers, but it's worth a try ...

Don't ask the question if you will be unsettled by the answer ...

Poor Socrates ... or "Sew-crates," as Steve Martin used to call him ...

Yep, it's Nietzsche for the win ...

It's a perfectly valid question ...

Hey, Siri ...

And that concludes our philosophical edition of Cartoon Saturday, which I hope was entertaining regardless of your epistemological* outlook.

Have a good day and a great weekend, and come back tomorrow for Poetry Sunday. More thoughts then.

* Yes, I had to look it up, too.

"Nietzsche argued that the development of science and the emergence of a secular world were leading to the death of Christianity."
But Christianity's not going down without a fight.

I enjoyed the cartoons, and look forward to your Saturday post. But not as much as I enjoy your well-thought-out thoughts. Thanks for sharing.
