The Right-Cheek Ass Clown for June, 2022

With the dawn of a new month comes the arrival of a new crop of ass clowns clamoring for attention. The last two weeks have seen more than the usual amount of ass clownery, from the aftermath of the massacre of 20 elementary school children and two teachers in Texas to the bestial howling of Der Furor as many of his endorsed primary candidates went down to defeat, but I have decided on a dark-horse's-ass awardee for the first ass clown award for June.

Ladies and Gentlemen, Dear Readers, the award for

The Right-Cheek Ass Clown for June, 2022

is presented to

John Durham

Three years ago Mr Durham was appointed by then-Attorney General William Barr* to investigate alleged wrongdoing by officials of Hillary Clinton’s 2016 campaign, the FBI or other government agencies or officials in their pursuit of allegations that then-candidate Der Furor had nefarious ties to Russia. The fact that there was no evidence of such investigative wrongdoing did not impede Mr Durham's investigation, the purpose of which was less to find actual criminal acts than to muddy the water and create doubt in the integrity of the 2020 presidential election.

This past week, a Federal jury took a mere six hours to acquit the highest-profile defendant charged by Mr Durham - William Sussman, a former attorney for Hillary Clinton - of a charge of lying to the FBI. Speaking after the verdict was read, the jury's forewoman said that "it (the case) should not have been prosecuted," and that the government could have spent our (the jury's) time more wisely."  

Although Michael Horowitz, the Justice Department's Inspector General, found “(no) documentary or testimonial evidence that political bias or improper motivation influenced the decisions” to launch the initial investigation in the Summer of 2016,” Attorney General Barr appointed Mr Durham as a Special Counsel to continue searching for something ... anything that would please Der Furor and roil his fevered base. And now, after three years, millions of wasted taxpayer dollars, and irreparable damage to his reputation, the reputation of the Justice Department, and our collective belief in the integrity of our elections, Mr Durham has again found ... nothing.

This will not, of course, stop Der Furor and his rabid supporters and enablers from continuing to complain about their loss of the 2020 election, but it should be a wake-up call to reality to those whose trip down the rabbit hole of feverish conspiracies has not yet reached the point of no return.

Ladies and Gentlemen, Dear Readers, the Right-Cheek Ass Clown for June, 2022, is John Durham, the latest person to sacrifice his dignity, honor, and integrity on the altar of Der Furor's ego.
