The Right-Cheek Ass Clown for January, 2024

It's a new year, not to mention an election year, which opens up vast new horizons for noteworthy ass clownery and the presentation of the appropriate awards. As difficult as it always is to select individual or group awardees, sometimes the choice is clear. Our first award for 2024 is one of these.

Ladies and Gentlemen, Dear Readers,

The Right-Cheek Ass Clown Award

for January, 2024

is presented jointly to

Representative Nancy Mace (R, SC-1)

and

Representative Jim Jordan (R, OH-4)

We've long bemoaned the fact that Congress - in particular its noisy conservative firebrands - has become much more angry, confrontational, hypocritical, and wanting of decorum over the last few years, but this week showed two members hitting a new low of despicable behavior.

Rep Nancy Mace's head exploded on Wednesday when the GOP's current punching bag of choice, President Biden's beleaguered son Hunter*, walked unexpectedly into a meeting of the House Oversight and Accountability Committee with his attorneys. The members of the Committee, who had been fulminating about holding Mr Biden in contempt of Congress for failing to show up and be questioned, were utterly dumbfounded when he actually ... showed up. While the Democratic members of the committee pointed out that Mr Biden was there and his accusers could ask questions, the Republicans refused to take "yes" for an answer, instead heaping angry invective on Mr Biden, who sat stone-faced while his lawyers laughed at the unfolding circus. Ms Mace limboed gracefully under the bar of civility and decorum when she howled,

"... you are the epitome of white privilege coming into the Oversight Committee, spitting in our face, ignoring a Congressional subpoena to be deposed! What are you afraid of? You have no balls to come up here."

Speaking of ignoring a Congressional subpoena to be deposed, and not to be outdone in grandly theatrical  and hypocritical outrage, Representative Jim Jordan (a four-time winner of this award**) denounced Mr Biden and castigated him for ignoring a Congressional subpoena ... omitting the fact that Mr Jordan had himself ignored a Congressional subpoena for the last 608 days ***.

Ladies and Gentlemen, Dear Readers, for their unabashed hypocrisy and use in an official forum of language beneath the dignity of a stevedores' convention at a waterfront whorehouse, Representatives Nancy Mace and Jim Jordan are jointly awarded the first Ass Clown designation of 2024. At the rate they're going, I'm sure they'll be back before long.
