Cartoon Saturday

Welcome to June ... I'm glad to see the backside of May.

Tornados continued to lash the nation's midsection, while the west and southwest suffered outbreaks of devastating wildfires; an asteroid large enough to have its own moon brushed past the earth ... had it hit in a populated area, it might have done as much damage as Congress; two FBI agents were killed during a hostage rescue exercise; in Maine, a man who used a fake Facebook account to lure a girl out of her home to stage a kidnapping so that he could eventually rescue her and become a hero, ended up killing her; and in India, a speeding train struck and killed three elephants and left a fourth in critical condition.

I hope June is better. But I wouldn't hold my breath if I were you. Let's just do the cartoons.

In last Thursday's post, I talked about puns. And darned if one of the most groan-inducing puns* in recent memory didn't pop up the next day ...

As the outrage over the real and imagined shortcomings of Obamacare continues to rise, one thing is sure - the cost of your health care will continue to skyrocket, and Congress, the medical profession, and the legal community won't do anything about it. There are a few things that will probably come along soon in an attempt to hold down costs ... like low-tech alternatives for expensive treatments ...

There's easy listening radio, and there's ... well ...

Mike used this cartoon in his blog earlier this week, but I liked it so much I just had to use it, too ...

For our collection of theme cartoons for this week, how about one of my favorite subjects - dancing!

I sometimes encourage the ladies to wear chain mail pantyhose for just this reason ...

Some people just aren't cut out to be dancers ...

It can be difficult for a new male dancer ... he had to keep the rhythm, pick the patterns, navigate around the floor, lead his partner, AND look like it's all effortless. Sometimes, it just doesn't all come together ...

Almost caught him ...

And for our final dance-related cartoon, there are some dance styles even I don't really like ...

We round out this week with a cartoon that summarizes the post-retirement job I think I'd really like to have ...

And that's it for our first Cartoon Saturday for the month of June. This should be a fun weekend - later this morning, Agnes and I will be meeting fellow blogger (and online Scrabble opponent) Kathy and her husband for lunch at a restaurant in DC we've been anxious to try, and we'll probably spend Sunday being driven to the very edge of exhaustion by our grandchildren.

Life's good.

Have a good day. More thoughts tomorrow.

Bilbo

* It's a double-threat pun: both compound and homophonic!

You posted some really funny dance-themed cartoons today. I especially liked the dancing chess player and the guy waltzing out of the bar earlier.

Happy June, Bilbo!

Excellent cartoon choices, as usual. I too had seen the Escher one and thought it hysterical.

Enjoy your weekend!
