Just a quick update to finish the week ... You may recall that I have been on call for jury duty at the US District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia since August 21st. Well, I dutifully checked in each day, was not required to report, and now - effective today - I am excused from jury service. Yee, HAH! Of course, I have no problem at all with the requirement for jury duty as a responsibility of citizenship, but being tethered to the phone day-to-day waiting to see if I'd be called in was a bit of a pain. At least now I'm off the hook for another three years, when we'll probably do the whole judicial kabuki dance again.
And now, back to your regularly-scheduled collection of editorial gems, because it's a new month, and between Trump and Harvey you know you need the laugh ...
Tomato, Tomahto ...
For the Bride of Dracula, perhaps? ...
Where the Saudis go to have fun that's denied at home ...
In a tough market, you sometimes have to sweeten the deal ...
I would have thought the meal would be served ontray at a cafeteria, and onplate at a real restaurant ...
Well, that's one way to get the day off to a rollicking start ...
Never mind; they'll learn it soon enough ...
This one reminds me of the private security firms hired to provide security at military bases ... which are usually home to lots of MPs or (in the Air Force) Security Forces ...
Um ... I think I'll go with the pasta ...
There are no words ...
Welcome to September.
Have a good day, and come back tomorrow for Cartoon Saturday. More thoughts then.

I am astounded that a city needed to hire a private security firm to protect a police station!

Excellent; so many great ones! That woman had enough pride left to fight for not being a crack whore.
