And you thought things couldn't get any crazier ...
North Korean leader Kim Jong Un graciously accepted a "Global Statesman" award from the Sukharno Center in Indonesia, in honor of his efforts to "fight imperialism;" Russian forces stepped up their intervention in Syria's civil war, launching a barrage of cruise missiles - some of which reportedly landed in Iran - from ships in the Caspian Sea; A Saudi employer chopped off the right arm of an Indian domestic worker after she complained to police that she was being mistreated, not being paid, and not given enough to eat; the GOP proved once and for all that it is utterly unable even to govern itself, much less the country, as it squabbled over a successor to outgoing House Speaker John Boehner; and in Tennessee, an 11 year-old boy used his father's unsecured 12-gauge shotgun to murder an 8 year-old neighbor who wouldn't let him see her puppy.
Guns don't kill people, people kill people ... of course, it's a lot easier with a gun. I don't know about you, but I really need some good cartoons to get the taste of this week out of my mouth ... how about some cartoons featuring stick figures?*
Sometimes, dogs are entirely too literal ...
Not everyone started as a stick figure ...
Even a stick figure needs a job ...
Starting with the basics ...
The stick people are just as religious as the far right believes it is ...
As I was saying ...
And sometimes even stick figures can overdo things ...
Turning to other topics for today, people sometimes connect the dots in very strange ways ...
Isn't it wonderful that our appliances grow smaller over the years? ...
And finally for today, I always thought that "symmetry" was a British burial ground. I guess I was mistaken ...
That's it for this weekend's Cartoon Saturday. I hope you have an enjoyable and relaxing weekend, and that no one shoots at you when you go to Home Depot.
Have a good day. Come back tomorrow for Poetry Sunday. More thoughts then.

* If you have children or grandchildren who enjoy being read to, pick up Julia Donaldson's wonderful book Stick Man. You'll thank me.

Religious stick figures: what a concept!
What a terrible fate, being smited with an eraser! Great cartoons!
I enjoyed the stick figure cartoons! And I want a macrowave!
The pencil on the temple would have to be a number one of course.
