Dressing for Success. And Survival.

Back in January of 2015, I wrote a post titled Surviving the Apocalypse in Style, in which I discussed some of the wonderful products that are available to help you survive horrendous catastrophies - like the ZFC-1 (Zombie Fortification Cabin, Model 1) which would protect you in the event of a zombie apocalypse, and such important equipment as bullet-resistent backpacks and bulletproof whiteboards for the well-appointed elementary school that can't afford to pay its teachers well, but must protect children from heavily-armed intruders.

Well, because we live in a country that worships the right of every person to pack all types of heat, everywhere, we've made the decision that we will accept the potential dangers that go along with that right. You yourself may not wish to carry a weapon, but you may need to protect yourself against those who do.

As a result, there's a growing niche market for defensive clothing and personal accessories. I draw your attention to the stylish apparel offered by Miguel Caballero Fashions, whose website says that

"Miguel Caballero is the only bulletproof fashion tailor worldwide who offers highly exclusive custom made designer clothing which ensures that you are protected whilst having an outstanding look.

"Our special patented technology enables us to produce high fashion with integral components of bulletproof panels. All garments of Miguel Caballero are very thin, light weight, flexible, and discreet, which imparts a high comfort in wearing."

Yes, Dear Readers, if you are concerned that not everyone who is exercising his or her Second Amendment rights around you is a righteous, standup citizen with your best interests at heart, perhaps you should be shopping at Miguel Caballero. Of course, protection doesn't come cheap ... this styish armored top for women will set you back 2,023€ (about $2,212 at today's exchange rate) ...

while this natty blazer for men is a steal at only 4,343.50€ (about $4749) ...

You can check out Miguel Caballero's whole line of bulletproof clothing here. Be careful before you order, though - it's not clear from the descriptions on the website if the cut of the various items of clothing will accommodate your own concealed weapon.

Oh, and should you need additional protection, Spycatcher Online offers stylish accessories like a fold-out bulletproof bum bag for the ladies (£210.00, or about $270) ...

and a bulletproof attaché case (£1138.80, or about $1461) for the cautious executive ...

So don't worry about the proliferation of deadly weapons all around you ... you can dress for success AND survival. Just bring money.

And, of course, if you prefer the retro look, you can always go with the more traditional body armor ...

Have a good day. Duck when you hear loud noises ... not every Second Amendment advocate is completely compos mentis.

More thoughts tomorrow.

Their site says the t-shirt is 243 lb. You won't get shot because you won't be able to leave the house.

Even if I could afford such clothing, I'd take a pass. Being aware of risk pays you. Being paranoid pays others, like these vendors1
