Last Friday we celebrated the birthday of actor, singer, and comedian Andy Griffith, perhaps best remembered for his television portrayal of folksy sheriff Andy Taylor on television. Griffith was also a gifted comic storyteller, and one of his best-known (at least, to my generation) routines was "What It Was Was Football," the story of a country bumpkin looking for a tent revival who ends up witnessing his first football game.
