Cartoon Saturday

It's the first Cartoon Saturday of the new month and, as usual, we really need the laughs ...

Mikhail Gorbachev, the last leader of the Soviet Union, died in a Moscow hospital at age 91; the Justice Department filed a 36-page rebuttal (54 pages, with attachments) to Der Furor's request for a "Special Master" to review documents seized when the FBI executed a search warrant at Mar-a-Lago on August 8th; in response to a new state law mandating that schools must display donated signs reading "In God We Trust," the school board in Southlake, Texas, rejected two donated signs - one which had the "In God We Trust" printed in Arabic, and the other in rainbow colors - saying it already had enough signs; Ravil Maganov, Chairman of the giant Russian oil and gas firm Lukoil, died after being falled from a sixth-floor hospital window; and the Vice Mayor of Tempe, Arizona, was hospitalized after being thrown from her horse named ... wait for it ... Bucky.

Someone once said, if you want a friend in Washington, get a dog. Nowadays, nobody has any friends in Washington, so here are some cartoons about dogs ...

He really does ...

I think that's the way juries really ought to be empaneled ...

He's on the job ...

If there's ice cream made just for dogs, why not fancy boat drinks? ...

Most of us mark ownership with little plastic houses and hotels ...

Indeed he is ...

It's not only humans who have questions about dating etiquette ...

Why dogs don't play in symphony orchestras ...

If nothing else, he'll learn to bark with more authority ...

Neither does using an iPad to swat flies ...

I hope these cartoons have helped you get through the dog days of autumn, and that I'm not barking up the wrong tree. Sorry.

Have a good day and a great weekend. More thoughts tomorrow, with the return of Poetry Sunday. See you then.

Sniffing her good night. Now, why didn't I ever think of doing that?

"...after being falled from a sixth-floor hospital window." Nice turn of phrase. I love it!

These are all terrific! Favorite: "come on... come on... throw the stick..."! That's hysterical!!! Thanks for the belly laugh!
