Staff Meeting

You may have at one time listened to the "Car Talk" broadcast on NPR, which always ended with the list of credits that featured people on their staff whose names reflected their jobs. Long before Car Talk was a thing, my mother (a world-class punster) and our friends used to play the same game among ourselves.

I thought that, in the middle of a time featuring a sluggish economy, political violence, racial and religious intolerance, and an increasingly-authoritarian government led by The Man Who Would Be King (apologies to Rudyard Kipling), we could all use a laugh ... and so, here are a few examples from my long and lovingly-curated list of people whose names match their jobs:

Amanda B. Warov - Bouncer/Personal Security Specialist
Mandy Battlements - Medieval Castle Defense Historian
Frank Appraisal - Insurance Adjuster
Lucinda Bolts - Mechanic
Sasha Payne Diaz - Annoying Neighbor
Angela Mercy - Nurse
Hugo Slavia - Balkan Historian
Archer E. Hunter - Wildlife Management Specialist
Nick Adore, Denton Fenders, and Randy Batterydown - Parking Lot Attendants
Aurora Gunfire - NRA Representative
Carmine Dioxide - Air Quality Analyst
Yolanda U. Lucky - Air Traffic Controller
Bud Yuronner - Attorney Specializing in Appeals
Vera Lee Isay - Biblical Scholar
Ruth Leslie Tractum - Bounty Hunter
Augusta Wind - NOAA Hurricane Forecaster
Menachem Down - Bowling Instructor
Douse & Burnham, Inc - Arson Inspectors
Bruno Moore - Coffee Addiction Counselor
Xavier Breath and Levon Hold - Complaint Department Staff
Natalie Attired and Anita Pearance - Fashion Consultants
Amelia Cantwell DiJest - Fast Food Menu Designer
Amanda Livering Cole - Fuel Delivery Specialist
A. Nicholas Notmuch - Investment Advisor
Veronica Lisioncourse - Apprentice Navigator
Lotte B. Essen - White House Press Secretary
Kirsten Hollard - Anger Management Coach
Karen Ford DeNeedy - Social Worker
Candace B. Rittenoff - Tax Advisor
Marcus Absent - Truant Officer

That'll do it for now. Any other suggestions? Leave a comment.

Have a good day. More thoughts coming.
