Cartoon Saturday

The economy is so bad that even our reality checks are bouncing ...

The Supreme Court rejected far-right blowhard Alex Jones' appeal of the $1.4 billion defamation judgment levied against him for defaming the families of children murdered in the 2012 Sandy Hook school shooting; the Republican administration, in brazen violation of the Hatch Act (which prohibits use of government resources for partisan political activity) continues to use official government channels and resources to blame Democrats for the ongoing government shutdown; a report in Politico documented thousands of racist and violent private messages among young GOP leaders who joked about gas chambers, slavery and rape ... Vice President JD Vance downplayed the offensive messages, suggesting they were nothing more than “edgy, offensive jokes,” and that "I really don’t want us to grow up in a country where a kid telling a stupid joke — telling a very offensive, stupid joke — is cause to ruin their lives;” Der Furor has commuted the sentence of former Republican Representative George Santos, who served less than three months of a seven-year term for fraud and identity theft, saying that "George Santos was somewhat of a 'rogue,' but there are many rogues throughout our Country that aren't forced to serve seven years in prison" ... Santos was the latest in a string of members of Congress who have been pardoned or had sentences commuted by Der Furor; and Claudia Milne, the director of news standards at CBS, has quit ... evidently because there are no longer standards for network news programs.

The third Cartoon Saturday of October and the Halloween season features witches!

Them's cursin' words ...

Witches' camouflage ...

"Slightly" guilty ...

You use what you have in the pantry ...

He'll need a few more zeroes for the estimate ...

I can only imagine ...

Everybody gotta start someplace ...

If it's one of Der Furor's DOJ lawyers, that stain will never come out ..

Whatever works ...

There's always somebody with a dietary restriction ...

And that's it for our 2025 Halloween salute to witches - I hope it gave you a chuckle. If you didn't chuckle, I hope you didn't turn into a toad. And always remember: the desired outcome of an exorcism is a hexagon.

Have a good day and a great weekend. More thoughts tomorrow, when Musical Sunday dances with the dead and Lady Gaga. See you then.
