Cartoon Saturday

So long, January ...

Two cruise ships were forced to return to port early when large numbers of passengers fell ill with nasty viruses; a 52-year-old California man pleaded guilty to holding a female relative as a sex slave in his backyard shed for 14 years; police in Michigan found human body parts in garbage bags dumped along rural roads; the city of Atlanta was completely paralyzed by a two-inch snowfall for which it was unprepared; and in Washington, where boorish behavior and callous disrespect among politicians are becoming the norm, Republican Congressman Steve Stockman ostentatiously walked out of President Obama's State of the Union speech on Tuesday*.

Today is the first day of February. Hopefully, things will get better. At least we have cartoons ...

In honor of the bitter cold that has gripped the nation for much of the last few weeks, I thought a collection of cartoons about heat might be appropriate ... at least until hell freezes over ...

I've worked in places like this ...

Things are tough all over, even in hell ...

It's as we always suspected ...

There's only so much you can do to sweeten it ...

Dante didn't get it quite right ...

Different people try to stay warm in different ways ...

C3PO on the prowl ...

This week's ghastly pun cartoon ...

Probably not the approach Pope Francis would take, but if it works ...

Dagwood and I understand each other ...

And so you have it - our first Cartoon Saturday for February. Hope it helped you ease into the new month.

It looks like it's going to be a relatively nice weekend here in NoVa, with a screaming heat wave of temperatures rocketing into the low 40's and no snow for the next few days. I can deal with it.

Have a good day. More thoughts tomorrow.

Bilbo

* Looks like I awarded the Ass Clown of the Month Award for January too soon.

These particular comics made me laugh out loud. Thanks, I needed that.

Those cartoons show that Hell is definitely cartoon-worthy, but that sumo russtler one is the best!

Sartre got it wrong. Hell is an afternoon at the DMV.

Remind me to tell you my Md. DMV story....So fitting.

And the guy who walked out of the SOTUS? I understand he walked into a closet.

The county fair's sumo roping contest turned out different than expected.

Sending one to be a bureaucrat or to the DMV are especially fiendish and Hellish, in my opinion!

With all that bad news, cartoons are necessary!
