And away we go ...
In Ireland, the remains of as many as 800 children have been found in a septic tank at a former home for unwed mothers; in Seattle, a gunman who murdered one person and wounded two others on a college campus was captured after being tackled by a student* while reloading his shotgun; in Nigeria, hundreds of people were murdered by thugs from the extreme Islamic group Boko Haram (the group's name means "Western Education is Sinful") in attacks on several villages; North Korea has detained an American who was apparently visiting the country as a tourist** after he was accused of leaving a bible in a hotel room; and a man armed with an assault rifle, explosives, zip ties, and other equipment was killed by police in Georgia as he apparently attempted to storm a courthouse and take hostages.

And so ends another edition of Cartoon Saturday. Here in NoVa, we're looking forward to a weekend of beautiful weather, which means more time to spend trying to coax edible things out of my garden. Later this morning, we'll also be watching the International Day show at our granddaughter Elise's school ... there's nothing like watching large numbers of four year-olds trying to put on a show. It should be great.
Have a good day and a great weekend. More thoughts tomorrow.

* Note to Wayne LaPierre: the bad guy with a gun was brought down by a good guy with guts and pepper spray. Just sayin'.
** You just have to wonder why anyone would want to visit North Korea as a tourist.
