Cartoon Saturday

Welcome to the first Cartoon Saturday of 2021! One hopes that this year will be better than the last, but you never know ...

In an attempt to placate Der Furor and burnish his hard-right credentials for a possible 2024 presidential run, Missouri Republican Senator Josh Hawley plans to object to the Congressional receipt of the Electoral College certification of Joe Biden's victory; Brexit became a reality on January 1st as the United Kingdom completed its messy divorce from the European Union; eight young people died from carbon monoxide poisoning during a New Year’s Eve celebration in a cottage in southwestern Bosnia; police in Wisconsin have arrested a man suspected of deliberately spoiling 500 doses of Covid-19 vaccine; and in Rockville, Maryland, a woman trying to park her car accidentally hit the gas instead of the brake and ended up with her car parked hood-down, wedged between a wall and a chain link fence and partially blocking a Metrorail train which was, fortunately, able to stop in time.

There are three Cartoon Saturdays left in Der Furor's reign, and so I thought it would be appropriate to dedicate them to some of the better cartoons that have documented the last four chaotic and un-American years ...

Final stop ... everybody out ...

Tired of all that winning, yet? ...

Just the right place for his "skills" as a real estate developer ...

It's as accurate as it gets ...

Perhaps some of them can be rescued after January 20th ...

That's a story I've been waiting for for quite a while ...

Well, that's the issue ... what's the solution? ...

It takes a while for some of those rich televangelists to figure it out ...

Boy, if that ain't the truth ...

It will be nice to clean out the fridge after the 20th, won't it ...

And that's it for the first Cartoon Saturday of the new year. I'll do my best to keep you chuckling if you do your part and keep visiting.

Have a good day and a happy, healthy, and safe new year. See you tomorrow for Poetry Sunday ... more thoughts then.
