Here we are, less than two full weeks into 2015, and it's already going to pot ...
Radical Islamic thugs who murdered at least twelve people in Paris because they were offended by cartoons they believed insulted their religion were hunted down and killed by French police; the 114th Congress convened in Washington with the usual bipartisan accusations of responsibility for the miserable state of American governance; Sue Ann Arnall, the ex-wife of oil tycoon Harold Hamm, has cashed her $975 million divorce check after claiming earlier this week that the settlement was unfair; 32 people have become infected with the deadly listeria monocytogenes bacterium in 11 states and at least six have died, apparently after eating contaminated caramel apples; and with the GOP takeover of both Houses of Congress, the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee - which oversees climate policy - will now be headed by Senator James Inhofe (R, OK) ... one of the most strident of climate change disbelievers.
Hold on to your hats ... it looks like 2015 is going to be as rough a ride as the late, unlamented 2014. Good thing we have cartoons to ease the pain.
This week, in honor of my partners in verbal crime Gonzo Dave, Kathy, and Marco, we feature cartoons built around awful puns. Abandon hope, all ye who read further ...
Take two hits and call me in the morning ...
It's funnier if you understand the reference ...
Where the doctors live ...
No horsing around, here ...
Well, llamas have big humps, too ...
Well, we park in the driveway and drive on the parkway, so ...
The annoying pests aren't just sitting at desks in Congress ...
Groan ...
Double groan ...
Bow, WOW ... !
And there you have it ... your second Cartoon Saturday of the new year. Hope you enjoyed it.
It looks as if it's going to be a sunny, but continued very cold weekend here in NoVa. Agnes and I will be taking down the Christmas tree today and I'll be continuing the tough job of cleaning and reorganizing my study. Anybody have a front-end loader I can borrow?
Have a good day. See you back here tomorrow for Poetry Sunday.
More thoughts then.

God, the Jane Russell terrier one is so funny! They all are. You've hit a homer today with these selections.
To err is human; to pun divine.
Really...the prawnbroker. Funny "groan" comics today. I've been trying to sort through papers as well...getting ready for the tax prep. Organized chaos.
Awesome puns! Jane Russell is hot. Dolly Lama also. You are in good punish form today, Bilbo!
*sigh* I try to help you out with humor and this is the thanks I get. I guess good deeds really don't go unpunished.
Congress needs a real version of fumigate.
Prawnbrokers and Dolly Lamas! Great holy puns, Bilbo!
Medical marinara did it for me - laughed and howled in an ubladylike fashion..
Great collection! I loved the watertruck.
