Welcome to Cartoon Saturday - I'll bet you thought it would never get here this week ...
In Yemen, at least 137 people were murdered in suicide attacks on two mosques, and the pious saints of the so-called "Islamic State" claimed responsibility; the bodies of five infants - four of them frozen - were found by police in a home near Bordeaux, France; in Washington, a former FBI agent fired for stealing heroin collected as evidence for his personal use was charged with 64 criminal offenses; a mentally ill woman in Afghanistan was beaten and burned to death by a mob of angry men who claimed she had burned a copy of the Koran; Attorney General nominee Loretta Lynch remains in political limbo as the Senate - mired as usual in partisan sniping and coup-counting, delayed her confirmation vote until after the upcoming recess; and in Mississippi, authorities are trying to determine whether a black man found dead and hanging from a tree committed suicide or was murdered.
I got into a few more pun battles with my friends on Facebook during the past week, and so I thought that cartoons featuring terrible puns might be fun for our theme selection this week ... after a week like the last one, a few belly laughs are in order.
Gives new meaning to the cheer "We're Number One!", doesn't it? ...
You've been getting the story wrong all these years ...
Alternatively, you could dream that you were a playful river animal, and have an otter-body experience ...
So to speak ...
Searching for the right cherries ...
I guess the gum control lobby finally got somewhere ...
Someone once asked me if I liked Noodles Romanoff. I said no, I prefer them to stay right there on the plate so I can enjoy them. Speaking of noodles ...
Be sure to czech off the items as you do them ...
Turning to other topics, getting a second opinion is not always a good thing ...
And finally, revenge can be sweet ...
Well, hopefully yesterday's miserable mix of snow, sleet and rain was the last gasp of winter, and we can now get on with our preparations for spring. I'm ready. Later this morning Agnes and I are driving up to Baltimore to check out the German butcher shop we've heard about, and after that we're going to meet up with fellow blogger Kathy and her husband for lunch. Life is good.
Have a good day. Come back tomorrow for Poetry Sunday ... and a somewhat unusual poem.
More thoughts then.

Such wonders of our time: the way to get a number one best seller, medical advice from readers of the internet, soldiers on a pigeon statue, and others deftly skewered with puns. A great assortment to keep your Cartoon Saturday streak going!
For a rough week news-wise, these cartoons provide a needed levity for a change.
Great job this morning on the puns... I like the Noodles Romanoff. The news just gets worse and worse!
You even found a funny one of ramen noodles!
An Achilles pun! I'm thinking of Brad Pitt.
Agnes shouldn't mention that she's German at the butcher shop.
What about people who cheer, "We're Number Two!"
I always look forward to Cartoon Saturday. Thanks Bilbo!
