The Right-Cheek Ass Clown for December, 2020

This has been a year of incredible - literally, "unable to be believed" - events. Every time we turn around, something else happens that is so far from normal, decent, and moral behavior that we literally can't believe it. Most of these lie at the feet of Der Furor and those who support his terrifying assaults on democracy, let alone common decency ... and it is one of those who I have chosen to dishonor today.

Michael Flynn

Michael Flynn, is the disgraced former Army lieutenant general who pleaded guilty - multiple times - to lying to the FBI about his contacts with then-Russian Ambassador to the U.S. Sergey Kislyak before the current administration took office, only to have Der Furor grant his traitorous and disgraceful behavior a full and complete pardon.

This alone would qualify him for an Ass Clown Award, but wait! - there's more!

On the evening of December 1st, Mr Flynn retweeted a news release from a right-wing Ohio group called the “We the People Convention.” That release contained a petition asking Der Furor to declare martial law, suspend the Constitution, silence the media, and direct the military to “oversee a national re-vote.” The petition ends with the threat of violence, calling on Der Furor “to boldly act to save our nation…. We will also have no other choice but to take matters into our own hands, and defend our rights on our own, if you do not act within your powers to defend us.”

Mr Flynn, once a senior military officer who took an oath to "support and defend the Constitution of the United States," has evidently either forgotten his oath or decided that - like so many other bedrock American beliefs and sacred responsibilities in this misbegotten era - it can easily be ignored in the service of raw political power. Mr Flynn seems to have forgotten that the Uniform Code of Military Justice contains these provisions (10 USC § 894):

"Any person subject to this chapter who with intent to cause the overthrow or destruction of lawful civil authority, creates, in concert with any other person, revolt, violence, or other disturbance against that authority is guilty of sedition."

and,

"A person who is found guilty of attempted mutiny, mutiny, sedition, or failure to suppress or report a mutiny or sedition shall be punished by death or such other punishment as a court-martial may direct."

Michael Flynn is, by his own actions, guilty of the crime of sedition against the United States and its people. The very least he deserves is designation as a prime example of an Ass Clown; he should be called upon to defend his dangerously un-American behavior in a military courtroom and, if found guilty, punished accordingly.

Ladies and Gentlemen, Dear Readers, the Right-Cheek Ass Clown for December, 2020, is Michael Flynn - once a senior officer of our Army and now a disgraced (and unjustifably pardoned) traitor to the nation.
