The Right-Cheek Ass Clown for December, 2021

It's hard to believe that we are coming down to the end of a year which, in its almost unrivaled ability to generate new depths of suck, ranks with - if not above - the very best of them. After today, we will have two more awards to present in 2021, December being one of those months in which we have three Fridays available to "honor" Ass Clowns. I point this out because the last award, the On-Crack Ass Clown for December, will be presented on December 31st, which may cause some of you to wait until the very last moment to cast your Ass Clown of the Year votes. Speaking of which, voting for the 2021 Ass Clown of the Year will not begin until Wednesday, December 22nd, but it's not too soon to start thinking about the candidate(s) you feel deserve the ultimate dishonor. Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene*

Representative Lauren Boebert**

"Representatives"*** Greene and Boebert are prime examples of the degradation of political representation and government service in today's GOP. Both engage in wild hyperbole and enjoy carrying out stupidly childish stunts rather than doing their jobs as elected representatives of the people of their districts.**** Ms Greene was stripped of her House committee assignments in February of this year, after the GOP leadership failed to take action on her history of anti-semitic remarks, relentless harping of conspiracy theories, and support of online comments urging violence against Democratic officials. Since then, rather than apply herself to her duties as an elected legislator, she has reveled in being a procedural bomb-thrower and general pain in the Congressional backside. In a classic example of ludicrous behavior and of the proverbial pot calling the kettle black Ms Greene, after voting yesterday against a measure to avoid a government shutdown, said

"This government should be shut down. You want to know why it should be shut down? Because the people in here. The people in here cannot control themselves."

If anyone is a world-class authority on the subject of lack of self-control, it's Marjorie Taylor Greene.

For her part, Ms Boebert has continued to plumb the depths of racist and conspiratorial behavior and commentary, most recently accusing fellow Representative Ilhan Omar (D, MN-5)^† of being a terrorist and making other anti-Muslim statements and accusations. She followed this up with a contentious telephone call offering an "apology" which was rejected by Rep Omar as a mere stunt. 

Marjorie Taylor Greene and Lauren Boebert are prime examples of the depths to which the ideas of thoughtful, rational discourse and dedicated public service have been discarded in today's Republican party, to be replaced by insults and unfocused anger. Along with other useless wasters of space like Louie Gohmert (R, TX-1)^††, Paul Gosar (R, AZ-4)^†††, Ted Cruz (R, TX)^††††, and Madison Cawthorn (R, NC-11), to name but a few, they represent the very worst in American public service and legislative competence.

Ladies and Gentlemen, Dear Readers, Marjorie Taylor Greene and Lauren Boebert are the co-winners of the Right-Cheek Ass Clown Award for December, 2021, and each merits a score of 2,999,999 on the Gohmert Stupidity Scale, allowing a single unit to account for all-but-certain future growth.
