Spring has sprung, sort of, anyhow, and I'm trying to shake off the winter blues and start feeling happy again. This song by Judy Collins is one of my all-time favorites, and always makes me glad to know that I have so many friends and so many reasons to enjoy life ... even in such yucky times as these.
"You're like a rainbow comin' around the bend" ... was there ever a better line to celebrate the arrival of a cherished friend? I don't think so. How about the rest of the lyrics ...
Sometimes I remember the old daysWhen the world was filled with sorrowYou might have thought I was livin'But I was all aloneIn my heart the rain was fallin'The wind blew andThe night was callin'Come back, come back, I'm all you've ever knownOpen the door and come on inI'm so glad to see you my friendYou're like a rainbow comin' around the bendAnd when I see you smilin'Well, it sets my heart freeI'd like to be as good a friend to youAs you are to meThere were friends who could always see meThrough the haze their smiles would reach meSaying okay, saying good-bye, saying helloSoon I knew just what I was afterWas life and love, tears and laughterHello, my good friend, hello my darlin'What do you knowOpen the door and come on inI'm so glad to see you my friendYou're like a rainbow comin' around the bendAnd when I see you smilin'Well, it sets my heart freeI'd like to be as good a friend to youAs you are to meI used to think it was only me feeling aloneNot feeling free to be alive to be a friendNow I know we all have stormy weatherThe sun shines through when we're togetherI'll be your friend right through to the endOpen the door and come on inI'm so glad to see you my friendYou're like a rainbow comin' around the bendAnd when I see you smilin'Well, it sets my heart freeI'd like to be as good a friend to youAs you are to me
Have a good day and enjoy the rest of your weekend. More thoughts coming.

Sounds good for an 84-year-old.
