Cartoon Saturday

The Swine Flu is causing panic around the world, sparking a trend of "social distancing;" 60,000 Palestinians living in East Jerusalem could be evicted from their homes if Israeli authorities decide to strictly enforce rules on construction; tens of thousands of civilians are threatened as the Sri Lankan army closes in on the last stronghold of the "Tamil Tiger" rebels; a former New York City stock trader has pleaded guilty to stealing $16 million he had promised to invest for friends and clients; and Iranian-American journalist Roxanna Saberi, jailed for eight years for espionage by a secretive Iranian court, is on a hunger strike.

Just when all seems lost, Cartoon Saturday arrives to lift your spirits!

As President Obama contemplates how to take on the entrenched interest groups on health care reform, real people will try almost anything to find affordable medical treatment ...

Organized crime really isn't funny, but riffs on some of its language can be ...

And clowns can be funny by themselves, and as the subject of cartoons. We saw some clowns last week on Cartoon Saturday, and now we continue with a few more ...

Well, if it doesn't rain today, I might get some yard work done. For sure, though, all those beginning-of-the-month bills will need to be paid, a pile of books needs to go back to the library, and I need to get my hair cut so I won't look like a fugitive hippie. Agnes looks great in long hair...I don't.

Have a good day. More thoughts tomorrow.

You say "fugitive hippie" as if it's a bad thing.

Wv - hamorub: 1) Mass-produced seasoning for pork products. 2) Topical ointment for swine flu.

Ah...I love Cartoon Saturday. And it only just occurred to me why newspapers always have a cartoon section! Its especially needed these days and Cartoon Saturday is like a booster shot each week.

Hope you get to work on your yard.

Good news after all this rain--weeds pull up pretty easily, but your shoes will be a real mess! Enjoy the day in the garden. Why pay for a hair cut when you have all those handy garden tools? Have Agnes or a neighbor take the pruning sheers to you.
