At a time when people tend to take religious beliefs to mind-numbing extremes that can even include demanding the murder of those who don't worship the "correct" way, it seems as if we might as well go back to the days when the gods on Mount Olympus played us like cheap fiddles. P.S. - According to this morning's news, Congress has announced it will suspend all legislative activity for a week in honor of Representative Gabrielle Giffords and the other people murdered and seriously injured last week in a horrific shooting in Tucson, Arizona. I think that's a good gesture ... but given the way Congress has been working lately, how will we notice the difference? These are brilliant -- took me a minute to take it all in, you see, I'm really not that smart.
Interesting that Poseidon's wrath was vicious pirates -- I would have thought more along the lines of vicious seas or man-eating sharks...
